Places I Travel

This is an animation that combines material generated by young people from Fairfield IEC, Lomandra School and Miimali.

The video is currently being exhibited in the foyer at the Sydney Opera House as part of Detours and Destinations.

Launch

Yesterday at the Sydney Opera House - Detours and Destinations was officially launched! Hoorah!

There were speeches made by Graeme West (Minister for Juvenile Justice), Richard Evans (CEO of the Sydney Opera House) and our very own TJ Eckleberg (Artistic Director of Shopfront). There was also a neat documentary made by the Opera House, raps sung by the participants and loads of people playing with the digital mash-up created by the young people involved.

Here are some photos from the launch and a few sneaky pics of the preparations and rehearsals that happened the day before.

Stikfas Guitar Hero

The green screening on this animation is in progress - but I just wanted to share with you this great animation Miimali young people created on Tuesday. I love the smashing of the guitar!

Triple Kane

I’ve been to Taree

Traffic Cones

Tuesday was extremely busy with Lomandra workshops at the Opera House and then to Mount Druitt to create songs and videos with Miimali. Here is a time lapse of some of the adventures that took place, which included playing and interacting with a whole bunch of traffic cones.

B-Grade Stikfas Stunts

On Tuesday the Miimali participants created some B-Grade Funniest Home Video stunts using Stikfas - to me these spoke a lot about journeys and the rocky pathways we travel.

Driving in the Rain

Here is a work in progress animation exploring journeys and modes of transport created by the Miimali participants yesterday. The animation was shot against a brick wall in the school yard.
